Reward Mechanisms in Obesity
ObesityThe study aims to investigate the effects of 3.0 mg of liraglutide on reward brain circuits in human obesity and to better understand its effects on weight loss (in patients without diabetes). According to the study protocol, 70 obese patient will be evaluated at baseline and at 16-week (end of study) after daily subcutaneous injections of Saxenda® (liraglutide 3.0 mg) or Placebo by pen injector. All participants will first undergo a functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI) session while being presented with gustatory stimuli. Second, participants will complete behavioural tasks (i.e., liking versus wanting, in the scanner) and questionnaires aiming at teasing apart reward mechanisms and emotional skills (e.g., emotional regulation ability) associated with food intake. Third, metabolic parameters and hormones involved in appetite regulation will be assessed and studied in relation to fMRI. These measurements will be repeated after 16 weeks in obese individuals. The control group of normal body weight individuals will be evaluated once at Baseline.

Acceptance-based Care for Child Eating and Physical Activity Treatment
Pediatric ObesityExecutive Function1 moreThe purpose of this study is to develop and pilot test a new type of patient-centered, family-based treatment for children aged 8-12 with obesity and their caregivers. The treatment will focus specifically on improving children's self-regulation (SR) skills to help them better manage their feelings, behaviors, and thoughts to help them live a healthier lifestyle.

Resistance Training and Sarcopenic Obesity Elderly Women
Sarcopenic ObesityInflammation1 moreIn this manuscript, we investigated the effect of resistance training (RT) on body composition, functional capacity, inflammatory and oxidative stress biomarkers in sarcopenic obesity elderly women, using a randomized controlled trial.

The Effects of High Intensity Interval Exercise in Obese
ObesityEndothelial DysfunctionObesity is a complex and multifactorial disease. Excess weight is related to endothelial dysfunction, inflammation and oxidative stress which increases the risk for cardiovascular diseases. High-intensity interval exercise can release vasodilatory substances and promote increased muscle blood flow.

PAP Therapy in Patients With Obesity Hypoventilation Syndrome
Obesity Hypoventilation SyndromeThe role of different levels of compliance and long-term effects of positive airway pressure (PAP) therapy on gas exchange, sleepiness, quality of life, depression and death rate in patients with obesity hypoventilation syndrome (OHS).

Interactive Obesity Treatment Approach (iOTA) for Obesity Prevention in Serious Mental Illness
ObesityMentally Ill PersonsThe proposed project aims to pilot and adapt a scalable and sustainable interactive obesity treatment approach (iOTA) program for adults with serious mental illness (SMI). The project consists of 2 arms: the iOTA SMI arm and the Health Education Control Group arm. The investigators hypothesize that participants in the iOTA intervention group will show favorable change in BMI compared to participants in the Health Education Control group, and participants in the iOTA intervention group will show favorable change in self efficacy with respect to healthy eating and activity compared to those in the Health Education Control group.

Noom Coach for Bariatric Health
ObesityMobile technologies/smartphone applications offer a means to effect behavior change without significant obstacles that typically limit implementation of empirically supported therapies (e.g., in-person sessions); however, rigorous research on apps is limited, and high-quality, adequately powered, randomized controlled trials with large samples are required. As more Americans consider bariatric surgery for the treatment of severe obesity, it is imperative to improve factors influencing suboptimal surgical outcomes (e.g., failure to adhere to diet and exercise recommendations and psychosocial impairment). This study will evaluate the effect of the Noom Coach for Bariatric Health platform in improving standard interventions utilized in bariatric surgery programs.

Research Study Investigating How Well NNC0174-0833 Works in People Suffering From Overweight or...
OverweightObesityThis study will look at the change in body weight in people taking NNC0174-0833, liraglutide and "dummy" medicine, from the start to the end of the study. As well as taking the medicine, participants will have talks with study staff about healthy food choices, how to be more physically active and what participants can do to lose weight. Participants will either take NNC0174-0833, liraglutide or "dummy" medicine - which treatment participants get is decided by chance. Participants will need to take one injection once a week or once a day, depending on the treatment. The study medicine is injected with a thin needle in a skin fold in the stomach, thigh or upper arm. The study will last for about 8 months. Participants will have 12 clinic visits with the study doctor.

Efficacy of Diet and Hypnotic Suggestions or Telemedicine in Obesity Management
ObesityWeight LossThe aim of the study is the assessment of the effectiveness of medical nutrition therapy (MNT) among obese patients, including a well-balanced low-calories diet, an individual dietary counseling conducted by dietitians and supported by telemedicine (T) or hypnotic suggestions (HS). The study will cover a group of 90 adult patients, both sexes, with obesity (BMI ≥30 kg/m^2) undergoing MNT a dietetic treatment. Three arms are planned in the study scheme, according to the scheme: Group 1 - individual MNT (30 people); Group 2 -individual MNT and T (30 people); Group 3 - individual MNT and HS (30 people). The authors hope that the results of the study will allow to develop a new model of the most effective management of obesity, resulting in weight reduction and maintaining this effect over time. The results obtained during the study will also allow to assess the impact of the therapy applied on lifestyle changes, dietary habits and the knowledge about the disease among obese patients.

STEP 6: Research Study Investigating How Well Semaglutide Works in People Living With Overweight...
OverweightObesityThis study will look at the change in participants' body weight from the start to the end of the study. This is to compare the effect on body weight in people taking semaglutide (a new medicine) and people taking "dummy" medicine. In addition to taking the medicine, participants will have talks with study staff about healthy food choices, how to be more physically active and what participants can do to lose weight. Participants will either get semaglutide or "dummy" medicine - which treatment participants get is decided by chance. Participants are three times as likely to get semaglutide as "dummy" medicine. Participants will need to take 1 injection once a week. The study medicine is injected with a thin needle in a skinfold in the stomach, thigh or upper arm. The study will last for about one and a half years. Participants will have 14 clinic visits and 11 phone calls with the study doctor.
