Postoperative Function Following Partial and Total Knee Replacement
OsteoarthritisPost-traumatic ArthritisThe purpose of this study is to determine if patients with a fixed-bearing or mobile-bearing partial knee replacement perform functional activities differently than patients that have had total knee replacement or healthy volunteers that have not had knee surgery. The activities we are interested in include getting up out of a chair, stepping up and over a small wooden box, and standing still with the knees straight and also bent to 45 degrees.

A Study to Determine the Performance of the Press Fit Condylar (P.F.C.) Sigma RP-F Knee System
OsteoarthritisThe purpose of this study is to evaluate if the P.F.C. Sigma RPF knee accommodates functional stability with a post-operative passive range of motion of greater than 125° of flexion and to demonstrate that the range of motion does not compromise the longevity of the implant.

A Study to Evaluate the Performance of the DePuy Low Contact Stress (LCS®) Complete Anterior-Posterior...
OsteoarthritisThe primary objective of this investigation is to determine the survivorship of the LCS Complete AP Glide mobile bearing knee prosthesis at 5 years. The secondary objectives of this investigation are to evaluate the clinical performance of the LCS® Complete AP Glide mobile bearing knee prosthesis and to determine its long-term survivorship.

Polymethyl Methacrylate and (PEGT/PBT) Centralizer by the Uncemented BIHAPRO THP
OsteoarthritisThe purpose of this study is to analyse if the alignment of the stem and the number of complications of the new resorbable PEGT/PBT centralizer are comparable to the standard PMMA centralizer during the placement of an uncemented Bihapro hip prosthesis.

Muscle Activation in Knee Osteoarthritis
Knee OsteoarthritisMuscle activity, as a possible fundamental cause of functional limitation, has been extensively investigated in knee osteoarthritis (KOA). Many trials investigated muscle activity during dynamic movements and functional tasks in KOA. In addition, gender-related differences has been also investigated during functional movements in KOA. However, no trial investigated gender-related differences in muscle activation during static movement in KOA.

Prehabilitation Effect on Function and Patient Satisfaction Following Total Knee Arthroplasty
PrehabilitationKnee OsteoarthritisKnee arthrosis has a high prevalence. Non-surgical treatment, such as exercise, is the first choice of treatment. However, most patients end up having a surgical procedure such as total knee arthroplasty. Following surgery with total knee replacement as much as 20% of patients report to not be satisfied with the results. It is noteworthy that this level of dissatisfaction has persisted over the last decades despite formidable progress in surgical methods and technology. Leg strength prior to surgery is associated with faster recovery post operatively, which may influence satisfaction. The investigators aim is to implement a period of strength training prior to surgery to evaluate if training prior to surgery may reduce the level of dissatisfaction post operatively.

Comprehensive Reverse Shoulder Data Collection
Arthropathy of Shoulder RegionGrossly Deficient Rotator Cuff3 moreThis study is a multicenter, prospective, non-randomized, non-controlled clinical outcome study. The primary objective of this study is to evaluate improvement of pain score at one year for the Biomet Comprehensive Reverse Shoulder. The secondary objective is collection of long term clinical outcomes.

Comparison of Anesthetic Techniques on Total Hip Arthroplasty
OsteoarthritisTo compare analgesia and orthopedic rehabilitation milestones in patients receiving either spinal anesthesia (local anesthetic plus opioid) or general endotracheal anesthesia with lumbar plexus block.

Prolotherapy Versus Steroids for Thumb Carpo-metacarpal Joint Arthritis
Thumb Carpometacarpal Joint OsteoarthritisArthritis of the base of the thumb is a common debilitating problem. It is believed that laxity (loosening) of the joint leads to worsening arthritis in this joint. This can be treated by securing the joint surgically or symptoms can be treated with hand therapy and/or injection of corticosteroids. Recently prolotherapy (sugar water) has been shown to decrease looseness of joints and also be helpful for hand and knee arthritis. We hypothesize that prolotherapy injections for thumb arthritis will be equally or more beneficial to the patients than steroids.
